Using Restaurant Cards to Make Money
By fulltimeincome | November 10th, 2009
When you’re thinking about new ideas to make money, be sure not to overlook one of the most inexpensive ways to start up a new business: postcard advertising for restaurants in your area. The whole idea behind this business is simple: many of the smaller restaurants in your area are unlikely to be able to compete with the larger chain restaurants in terms of advertising on the television, or in the local newspaper. If you can offer them a viable means for getting their name out in the public – and getting the public through their doors for a meal – then you will have a service for which they will gladly pay.
The process is simple, but it does take a little planning and preparation on your part. The first thing you need to do is locate a restaurant in your area (or several) that has a somewhat low profile. What you are going to do is design a postcard-sized meal offering for an imaginary restaurant, and then use that card as a demonstration to show the restaurant you want to do business with how you can use a card offering to generate more business for them.
Here is the offer in a nutshell: for a price, you will design, print, and deliver an agreed upon number of these postcards to residences in town. The postcards will offer such benefits as 10% off a meal, or a free dessert when they purchase a meal, etc. The whole idea is to demonstrate to the restaurant that you can help them get additional patrons through their doors.
Of course, once you have agreed upon a strategy and a price, you will need to have the postcards designed and printed. This could entail some initial expenditure on your part, unless you are able to charge a small setup fee to cover printing costs.
Once you receive the printed cards, you simply hand deliver them to residences in the town. It is usually a good idea to require that the postcards be brought to the restaurant so that your customer can see how effective the marketing strategy actually is.
Once you have established your business with one restaurant, you can repeat the process for others as well – and can even clone the premise to encompass other types of business in your area.
