Are you interested in learning more about how to wash a duvet cover? Or are you simply considering buying one & are trying to find as much information as you can before making a purchase? Let me just say that you have come to the right place where you will learn all that you need without a need for further reading.

The question on how to wash a duvet cover is not a very difficult one to answer. However, most people have been misled by amateur writers who are trying to make a buck online. Below I will walk you through a few steps that you should follow when trying to clean up your duvet cover. Even if it’s one with a specific color like: plum purple duvet covers, red duvet covers bedding and fabric for duvet covers

The number one rule when planning to clean any piece of clothing is to read the label very well i.e. the care label, which normally comes with the duvet cover. Some of them will show that you need to use only dry cleaners. Never ignore this caution – unless you don’t mind to have a shrinkage, which will result in reduced size that won’t fit over the comforter.

Once you’ve verified that there is no need for dry cleaners then you can prepare to wash it yourself.

Check to see that there are no stains that you will may have to pre-treat. if there are some stains then you will need to organize a stain remover. Simply pour it on to the stain and live it there to soak for about 10 minutes. You can keep it longer if you want so that you give it enough time to soak into the material. Before you do your pretreatment I strongly advise that you read the label on the stain remover product for some specific instructions. What you must know regardless of what the instructions say, do not let the stain to dry.

After that you can then go ahead and use your home washing machine. Do not stuff it in but make sure that it is well distributed inside the machince. You don’t want this large load to go off balance once the machine start spinning. You may need to stop the process and adjust the weight if it happens to go off balance. I won’t go through the details of setting up your machine here because you probably know it better than me.

Now once the washing is done, take it out and check if all the stains are gone. You may need to reuse the stain remover if you see some traces of stains after the 1st wash. Once you are happy with the output then dry it up with your usual dryer but make sure that the heat setting is set to low.
